Arsenal target Onyekuru joins Everton
The 20-year-old winger has attracted interest from all over the world and has been linked with Gunners but he has opted to join the Toffees.
Henry Onyekuru has joined Everton despite being linked with Arsenal and also had interest from teams in Germany and France.
The 20-year old winger who attracted interest from teams in Premier League, Bundesliga and also Ligue 1 was the joint top scorer of Belgian Pro League with Eupen.
Onyekuru confirmed there had been an offer from the Gunners and spoke of his desire to move to England, saying:
“I remember saying if I had to move to the Premier League I want to be like Thierry Henry, so it’s likely to come true and I’m looking towards it at the moment”.
The Nigeria international admitted that he has rejected offers from big teams as he wants more game time and therefore he has chosen Everton to take his career to the next level, as he was extremely pleased with the Everton’s youth policy.
Onyekuru had a medical at Everton on Monday, but he is expected to be sent back to Belgium on loan with Anderlecht.
The left winger scored 24 in 41 games in all competitions for Eupen in his first season in the top flight.
Onyekuru becomes Everton’s 3rd signing of the transfer window, having already bought Jordan Pickford from Sunderland and Davy Klaassen from Ajax.
