Sampdoria ace having medical at Turin
The Old lady poised to make a £26m deal for the Czech Republic international.
Patrik Schick underwent medicals on Thursday with Italian champions Juventus to complete a transfer from Sampdoria. Patrik Schick will move to Turin from Sampdoria for a reported fees of £26 million.
Schick arrived in Turin for his medicals on Thursday, a day after helping Czech Republic to a 3-1 win over Italy in the under-21 European Championship in Poland.
The Grand Old Lady have activated the release clause in the 21-year-old striker’s contract, thus securing his services. Although the Czech Republic international was contracted to Sampdoria until 2020, he had long been the subject of interest from Juve and Inter, while Tottenham had been linked too.
The 21-year old Schick scored 11 goals for Sampdoria in his first season in Italy, having joined from Sparta Prague for €4m last year. He has previously played for Bohemians 1905 too.
Juventus’ vice-president and legend Pavel Nedved – winner of 2003 Ballon d’Or – praised Patrik Schick.
“Right now, Patrik doesn’t have the muscles, but you can just imagine him in two or three years.
“He reminds me of Zlatan Ibrahimovic because he was like that when he came to Juve. He didn’t have the muscles either.”, Nedved said.
