East Bengal ropes in Physical Trainer Miranda Garcia from their arch rivals
On the day of Khalid Jamil being unveiled as the new Red and Gold Head Coach for the upcoming season, Kingfisher East Bengal has roped in another big name. The new recruit is none other than Djair Miranda Garcia, the physical trainer.
Garcia, who has been working as the physical trainer of East Bengal’s arch rivals Mohun Bagan for the last few seasons has been on the wishlist of the Red and Gold recruiters for the past couple of seasons. But this time around, they have finally managed to seal the deal as Garcia has penned down a contract with his new employers.
Djair Miranda Garcia first appeared in the scenes of Indian football as the physical trainer of Prayag United Sports where he landed from Rio Claro Futebol Clube , his previous club. The former player of Cruzeiro also has a valid coaching license and is also seen playing the role of a coach previously in India unofficially. The man from Sao Paulo has also been the Head Coach of S.E.U.R. Peraltas.
The installation of Garcia did not come in any easy way for the East Bengal officials. Inspite of approaching repeatedly, the Brazillian was reluctant to break his knot with the Mariners being a long-time servant of the club. But finally he gave the nod to East Bengal yesterday as the Bagan officials showed no urge to renew his contract.
The arrival of Garcia is being considered to be a big boost to the club ahead of the season. For the past few campaigns, the eternity of long-term injuries of some of the key players of the club had taken a toll of their performances. Although this time around, after the installation of a reputed and proven Physical Trainer, the East Bengal faithfuls are hoping for a injury-free season, something which can prove decisive in marathon leagues.
