Kerala to get participation I-League second division
Football is the second most followed sport in the country after cricket, but the scenario is much different in the southern state Kerala, Where football is considered as a part of life.Though its a highly fertile land for football, professional clubs from this region failed to sustain mainly due to their unprofessional approach. The scenario is undergoing drastic change in recent times.
Recently there were reports suggesting that two teams from Kerala is eyeing I-League spot through corporate bids. One being Gokulam FC and other from capital city of the state.There’s another news which excite football lovers from the state , as another club from the state is preparing themselves for I-League second division this season.
FC kerala a professional club based from Thrissur, formed over an year ago is eyeing Second division berth this season. It is learnt that the club is holding trials for talented footballers across the state in an effort to build a strong team for second division league this season.
The Thrissur based club has fulfilled almost every criteria needed to be met in order to participate in second division league. The club has already started an academy with an aim of nurturing young talents, who will represent the club in different age group leagues organised by KFA and AIFF this season.
The club had a decent season in Kerala Premier League, they missed out the semi finals of the league mainly due to the withdrawl of a club mid way into the season.It is believed that the club will sign several talented footballers to re-equip themselves for second tier league. Former Pune FC striker Bineesh Balan is also part of the squad.
Let’s hope the club from the land of Indian football legends I M Vijayan and Joepaul Ancheri will make their presence felt and gain promotion to top division of the country.
