TSG Hoffenheim have signed young Dutch centre-back Justin Hoogma on a four-year deal from Eredivisie side Heracles Almelo.

The 19-year-old played through the youth ranks of FC Twente before joining Heracles. Last season, Justin wrote his name in the Eredivisie record books by becoming the youngest player ever to play each minute of all league matches, making a total of 34 appearances.

Speaking to 1899 TV, the club’s official channel, after putting pen to paper on his new deal, Hoogma said:
“Because of their playing style and their reputation of taking players to the next level, I was hooked right from our very first talks,”

Justin is the son of former defender Nico-Jan Hoogma who made 177 Bundesliga appearances for Hamburger SV.

Hoffenheim Sporting Director Alexander Rosen said:

“Justin is a highly talented defender, a left-footer who is extremely good at building up the play and has already made history at Dutch football’s top level,”

Justin has also made seven appearances for the Netherlands U-19 and U-20 sides so far.

A key vacancy in central defense was left when Niklas Süle departed for Bayern Munich this summer and Die Kraichgauer will hope that he can fill in the void.
