United Sports Club holding trials for senior team player selection
United Sports Club, a club that featured in the top flight of Indian football on a regular basis not so long ago. With different names like Eveready, Chirag United, Prayag United etc, the club achieved prominence in the Indian football map.
But twists in fortunes have pushed the club into oblivion. With lack of sponsorship and other issues, the club is now fighting to build a proper team to challenge in the top divisions of Kolkata football.
The likes of Nabab Bhattacharya, Alokesh Kundu who have remained the backbones of the club has set examples of ideal football club owners by their indomitable efforts. In an era, when money and fame matter the most to the football officials, these two of the rarest breed have set a different identity far away from the spotlight of the media.
This season ahead of the Calcutta Football League, the club is back to build it’s senior team. Last year they fielded the team in the CFL Premier Division Group A somehow at the last moment but unfortunately got relegated. This season they will feature in CFL Group B.
United Sports have started trials for player selection for the senior team yesterday. The trials will take place daily for the upcoming 7-10 days starting from 8:30 AM according to Nabab Bhattacharya. The trials are occurring at the Kalyani Shikshayatan Ground. This is a open to all trial and age is no limit being a senior team trial.
With limited ammunition, the club will again start their journey to restore themselves among the elites of Kolkata football.
