Leicester City seal Sam Hughes’ deal
Leicester City sealed Sam Hughes’ deal to make the Chester defender their first signing of the summer.
Hughes is regarded as one of the best young prospects in the lower league and scouts have been monitoring his progress for several months. Several Premier League and Championship clubs including Swansea City, Crystal Palace, Sheffield Wednesday, Wolves and Barnsley have been chasing the centre-back for quite some time now.
According to reports in England, Barnsley had an £80,000 bid rejected for the Chester centre-back in January. Lincoln City were also in the fray to bag the services of Hughes but Leicester City have moved to agree a deal.
The 20-year old has signed a three-year deal, with the 2015-16 Premier League champions reported to be paying a compensation fee in the region £1,30,000, plus add-ons, though, all the rumours regarding the fees are just rumours and the club is trying to agree a fees with Chester to prevent the deal from going to a tribunal.
