Inter appoint former Roma boss, Luciano Spalletti as their new manager
The former Roma boss has agreed on a 2-year contract and will look to restore Inter Milan’s fortunes.
The 58-year old Italian guided Roma to the 2nd spot in Serie with an amazing 87- point haul but off-field issues has made him out of favour as he left the Stadio Olimpico.
Inter Milan finished 7th last season has chosen Spalletti to restore their fortunes after the underwhelming season under Frank de Boer and then Stefan Pioli. the Nerazzurri’s will hope that there will be a change in fortune for them when the former Roma manager takes charge.
Spalletti becomes Inter’s fifth coach in the space of a year after finalising talks with the club following a trip to China earlier this week to meet the club’s owners.
Speaking ahead of his flight from Milan airport to China, Spalleti said:
‘It’s all done because we’ve shaken hands.
‘I’m one of those old fashioned types who does things with a shake of the hand. I’m happy to be the new coach of Inter.’
Inter have experienced a turbulent year since electronics retailer Suning Commerce Group Co Ltd took over last summer.
Inter have had a torrid session with their recent managers as Mancini departed just two weeks before the start of last season after a disastrous per season. Frank de Boer came to replace him and he also lasted for a mere 85 days before he was sacked. Stefano Pioli replaced the Dutchman but was fired after an 8-match winless streak.
So the fortunes of the Nerazzurri rest on Spalletti’s shoulders and the Italian is quite likely to deliver for this historic club.
