Simone Inzaghi signs new three-year Lazio contract

Lazio coach Inzaghi has signed a new deal with Serie A outfit Lazio that will see him remain in charge in the Italian capital for the next three seasons.

Inzaghi confirmed this week that he has reached an agreement with Lazio and he’ll be relishing the prospect of challenging for the top three in Serie A next season.

“SS Lazio announces that the employment contract of coach Simone Inzaghi, who will lead the team for the next three seasons, has been extended.”,

the club said in a statement.

Following his retirement, Inzaghi remained with Lazio, coaching its Allievi and Primavera sides. On 3 April 2016, he was appointed at the senior team following the sacking of Stefano Pioli.

For the 2016–17 campaign, Inzaghi was originally replaced by Marcelo Bielsa. However, as the Argentine left his post after less than one week due to undisclosed reasons, he was named as permanent manager.

Lazio enjoyed a strong 2016-17 campaign, finishing fifth in Serie A with 70 points and reaching the Coppa Italia final, where they lost to Juventus. Their fifth place finish in the Serie A table has ensured them of a Europa League spot.
