Manchester City signs Benfica goalkeeper Ederson Moraes for €40m
Ederson becomes the 2nd signing for City this summer making him the 2nd most expensive goalkeeper in the history.
Manchester City secured the services of the talented young Benfica goalkeeper for €40m which is lower than €53m which Juventus paid Parma for Gianluigi Buffon in 2001
The 23-year-old – who is yet to make his debut for Brazil – signed a five-year deal at the Etihad Stadium, with the move completed on Thursday.
The youngster is yet to play for Brazil but he his attributes include excellent reflexes and brilliant distribution, the left footed young goalie is also quick to spot any danger and is very fast to come off his line.
The young Brazilian goalie was delighted as he said:
“I like everything about Manchester City. This is a great club, the league they have here in England and they have amazing fans and they play splendid football. I have always had the dream to play in English football and now I’m going to make it true.”
He also added
“Manchester City has an amazing squad. I think they managed to have a good season. Next season, we will have to be focused to achieve the goal of winning trophies.”
City’s Director of Football, Txiki Begiristain, added:
“We are delighted to bring Ederson to Manchester City. He is young, has all the qualities you could want as a top-class goalkeeper and I think he’ll fit in really well to our squad.”
So Pep Guardiola has already started rebuilding his squad and with the arrival of Bernardo Silva and Ederson already done and with a few of them linked, future for Manchester City looks good.
