118 youngsters selected from all over India for Celtic Soccer Academy in Bhopal

The news of Scottish giants Celtic FC striking a partnership deal with Madhya Bharat Sports Club in Bhopal occupied spaces in the sports section of the leading Indian news portals not so long ago. The Hoops signed a 6 years deal with the club from Madhya Pradesh to pave the way of Celtic FC Soccer Academy India.

After many rounds of trials across many cities in the country, Madhya Bharat Sports Club finally shortlists 118 candidates for admission in the Celtic FC Soccer Academy in Bhopal. The club organized trials in several prominent cities of India like Raipur, Lucknow, Guwahati, Delhi, Indore and finally in Bhopal, the city in which the academy is based.

Over 250 candidates flocked to the Barkatullah University ground in Bhopal not only from the capital of Madhya Pradesh but also from the suburbs over the two days of the trial.

The youngsters also had an experience of special class by Madhya Bharat Sports Club Technical Director José Hevia. Hevia was attached with ISL franchise FC Pune City as TD before joining MBSC.

The club previously declared that a total of 72 youngsters will be selected for the academy but the list that got published yesterday showed the name of 118 candidates.

The 118 candidates are selected for U13, U15 and U18 categories. Although the twitter handle said 118, but the list provided in the site shows 116 candidates’ name-17 of U13, 59 of U15 and 40 of U18 category. They will have boarding cum schooling in the academy.

According to MBSC, all of them are having a minimum of 10 percent scholarship while some candidates are also having as much as 50 or 75 percent scholarships. Although rare, but sources claim that candidates having full scholarship are also there.

One selected candidate from each of the three age groups will get the opportunity to visit Celtic FC in Glasgow and train for 1 month under the facilities of Celtic Academy in the Scottish capital under the exchange programme.
