Ernesto Valverde promises first team action for Marlon Santos
FC Barcelona’s new boss Ernesto Valverde is ready to give first team action to young centre-back Marlon Santos for a perfect replacement for Jeremy Mathieu.
The frenchmen was on the verge of a move away from Camp Nou but instead will seek guidance from the former Athelitic boss and act as a cover for the Brazilian defender. Marlon is currently on loan from Fluminense. But with Valverde picking up interest on him, Barcelona are about to sign him permanently in a deal of €2m. Marlon now stand a chance to establish himself in his desired position for the 2017/18 campaign.
Under Luis Enrique, Barcelona have sustained damage at the back literally because Gerad Pique and Javier Mascherano communication breakdown with the latter coming down to support the midfield. The solution of this problem is to introduce a true centre-back alongside Pique. So Marlon,as a case, is a bright choice. Marlon 21, joined Barcelona’s second team as prospect of future. And Valverde already claimed that building future generation is an important task for the team.
He also opted not to sign any more defender though Davinson Sanchez is very much in the Barcelona radar. Marlon now have a bright future ahead.
