Borussia Dortmund have appointed 53-year old Dutchman Peter Bosz as their new head coach.

Peter Bosz led a young Ajax side to UEFA Europa League 2016-17 final in his solo season there only to be beaten by eventual champions Manchester United.

Under his guidance, Ajax produced some energetic, fluent attacking display throughout the season. Ajax also ended the Eredivisie season in the second position behind champions Feyenoord.

His only previous coaching experience outside his homeland was a brief spell at Israeli club Maccabi Tel Aviv. The former Holland midfielder will replace Thomas Tuchel as the head coach of Borussia Dortmund. Bosz has signed a 2-year contract with the German club.

Borussia’s official Twitter account confirmed the appointment.

“Peter Bosz is the new BVB Head Coach. The contract will last until 2019. Further info in a press conference this afternoon.”
