Vitolo dismisses Manchester City link
Sevilla winger Vitolo says no contact has been made by Manchester City.
The 27-year-old Spanish international joined Sevilla from Las Palmas in 2013 and since then has been an indispensable figure for Sevilla.
Primarily a winger, he has played in multiple positions this season. His versatility has caught the attention of European giants with reports in Spain earlier claiming that Manchester City, Atlético Madrid and Barcelona were considering making moves for Vitolo’s signature.
Last season he scored 6 goals and notched up 6 assists in 30 La Liga appearances as Sevilla finished 4th in La Liga.
Vitolo previously expressed his desire to play in the Premier League and also hailed David Silva as his role model. But he affirmed that no contact has been made from Pep Guardiola’s side yet.
“Manchester City is a great team that has grown in recent years but, for the time being, there is nothing with this team.”, he told La Provincia.
“I don’t know what will happen as not only Atlético is interested, there are other teams. We will see what happens.”
“I have not made a decision yet. Moreover, I have a contract with Sevilla, a club I have great respect for.”
Considering Manchester City already have host of attacking talents at their disposal including new signing Bernardo Silva while they are heavily linked with Alexis Sánchez, it’s highly unlikely they will make any move for Vitolo. Atlético wouldn’t be able to make any move either as their transfer ban remains upheld. That leaves Barcelona as the clear favourites to sign Vitolo.
Vitolo has a contract with Sevilla that runs until 2020 and includes a €35 million buyout clause.
