Mohammedan Sporting has cleared their intent this season as they are on their way of building one of the strongest squads in their quest to regain the Calcutta Football League after decades of abstinence.

According to sources, the Black and White brigade of Kolkata are on the final stages of talks with India international defender Adil Ahmed Khan.

Adil Khan, the 28 year old Centre-back who started his career as a Defensive Midfielder is a Churchill Brothers player at the moment. The player played pivotal role in Churchill’s last I-League campaign leading the team from the back and emerging as one of the most prominent defensive figures in the I-League.

Khan came through SESA Football Academy in Goa and made his senior debut with Goan outfit Sporting Clube de Goa back in 2008. He has experience of playing in Kolkata also, having been a part of Mohun Bagan in ’13-’14 season. But the campaign with the Mariners ended in a disaster as the Goanese managed to find his place in the first team only 6 times in the national tournaments.

Since then the player had stints in Delhi Dynamos and Bharat FC before joining Churchill at the start of last season. Adil Khan also represented India thrice since his debut in 2012.

Although the club has not yet confirmed the deal but the sources claim that the talks are on the final stage and it probably is a matter of time that the deal will see the light of reality.
