Juventus set to swoop for Emre Can
Juventus are ready to raid Liverpool for German international Emre Can.
Can, 23, joined Liverpool from Bayer Leverkusen in 2014. He has been an instrumental figure for the Reds notching up 5 goals in 32 appearances as they claimed 4th spot this season in English Premier League.
Although a central midfielder, Can can play as centre-back and fullback too. Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp rates Can’s versatility very highly. Can is running through last 12 months of his contract and Klopp is ready to hand him a new deal. But there are no indications from the German’s side to put pen to paper on a new deal yet.
Regarding Can’s future, Klopp told Guardian,
“After his bicycle kick probably everyone wants him to stay.”
“I think it is no secret how much I like Emre. He likes the club and that is a completely normal situation. We are in talks and there is absolutely no pressure, it is all good. It is two partners with big respect for each other. If we can keep good players that makes sense for development and he is one of these good players. I am quite positive.”
Earlier Italian newspaper II Messaggero reported that Juventus had sent officials to enquire about the German’s availability but they were quoted a price of £26m which the Italian giants are refusing to pay.
Now, Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio claims that Juventus have already made contact with Can’s representatives as they are trying to make the most out of the 23-year-old’s current contract dilemma.
Keeping in mind Juventus’ domestic triumphs as well as Champions League performances, Turin would be an attractive destination for Can. That means, Liverpool have a huge battle in their hand to keep hold of the German international.
