Gullit showers praise on Mourinho
Ruud Gullit hails Jose Mourinho’s team management
Dutch legend Ruud Gullit has hailed Jose Mourinho’s team management at Manchester United and even compared him with Sir Alex Ferguson.
Since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement, United have appointed David Moyes and Louis van Gaal as their managers. But both of them underperformed as managers which led to their sacking. The Red Devils appointed Jose Mourinho on the eve of this season and the Portuguese delivered in his very first season at the Old Trafford firing Manchester United to Community Shield, EFL Cup and Europa League glory.

Despite becoming the first manager to win two major titles in his debut season at the Old Trafford, Mourinho has been criticised often for United’s style of play and lack of goals but he has got full support from Gullit. Gullit, who finished his playing career at Chelsea, has termed Mourinho’s debut season as a success and also heaped praise on him for tackling Wayne Rooney’s situation brilliantly.
“You know what I like about this situation with Rooney, that Mourinho is in power, he decides what is happening, not the players.”, Gullit told Football Focus.
“That is what Ferguson did also. He got rid of Jaap Stam – he regretted it, but he got rid of him.”
“He also got rid of [David] Beckham when he thought it was right, and I think that is the sign of a great manager.”
Mourinho is expected to carry on his ruthless mentality at Manchester United this summer with the sales of Luke Shaw, Phil Jones and Chris Smalling. Red Devils legend and fan favourite Wayne Rooney is also expected to be a part of the summer exodus.
