Mohammedan Sporting ropes in I-League’s top scorer
Mohammedan Sporting Club has made the shock deal of the summer in Indian football so far as they have roped in I-League’s top scorer Aser Pierrick Dipanda Dicka.
The Cameroonian has been in prolific form this season for Shillong Lajong scoring 11 goals in 17 matches in I-League, thus becoming the top scorer in the elite tournament of Indian football and also winning the Best Striker award in the league for 2016-17 season.
In a situation when Indian football is passing through doldrums regarding the probable ISL and I-League merger, the Black and White brigade has struck a deal Dipanda Dicka, much to the surprise of other I-League clubs.
The news was confirmed earlier today by the Media officer of Mohammedan Sporting Club, an institution fighting to restore it’s lost glory. One of the three ‘Boro clubs’ of Kolkata Maidan, the recent performances of the club situated beside East Bengal Club has not been as noteworthy as their noisy neighbours or the other big one by the Ganges.
But by roping in Dipanda Dicka, they have surely issued a silent statement to the rest and has announced their prominence. The shock transfer would surely restore Mohammedan to the topic of discussion of Indian football fraternity.
Dipanda Dicka has reportedly signed a one year deal with the ‘Black and White’ brigade which will keep him at the club untill 2018.
The Cameroonian striker arrived at India in 2015 at DSK Shivajians via the likes of Valencia B. He had stints at La Roda and Alzira as well.
The inclusion of the 28 year old will surely boost Mohammedan Sporting and give their millions of supporters across the country something to cheer about after a long time. In a time, when the other big two of Kolkata football are attracting the spotlights for all sorts of reasons, Mohammedan Sporting has probably done enough to steal the spotlight, atleast for a day or two.
