FC Barcelona Legends to face Real Madrid Legends in India

FC Barcelona Legends set to lock horns with Real Madrid Legends in India.

The eternal rivalry between FC Barcelona and Real Madrid C.F. is set to be played out in India later this year. The veterans of Real Madrid C.F. and F.C. Barcelona are going to have an epic face-off in India later this year.

According to a press statement issued by Football Next Foundation – the organisers of this match – an announcement to this effect was made at the Santiago Bernabéu in Madrid on Thursday in the presence of Real Madrid legends like Isidoro San Jones, Amancio Amaro and Ricardo Gallego.

The exhibition match – let likely to be played in Kolkata in the third week of September – will be held in the memory of legendary Dutch footballer Johan Cruyff.

Former India international Dipendu Biswas, who will be the brand ambassador for the match, was also present on the occasion. “Getting to watch the legends of these two clubs will be a great experience for Indian fans” said Biswas.

Dipendu Biswas also said that the line-up of the two teams will be announced later.

There was a match between Barcelona Legends and Real Madrid Legends on April 28. The Barça Legends replicated what their peers did in the return leg of El Clasico on April 23 by defeating Real Madrid 3-2, in the case of the veterans in Beirut.

Ronaldinho was the biggest attraction as he donned the famous blaugrana shirt for a match for the first time since departing the club in 2008, and we were treated to several memories of his Brazilian magic, including assists for all three FCB goals, the first to Ludovic Giuly, which he did without even looking, a clone of the goal they scored against Milan in the 2006 Champions League semi-final. Ladovic Giuly (2) and Simao scored for Barça and Fernando Sanz and Javi Guerrero registered their names on the scoresheet for Real Madrid as Barça Legends defeated Real Legends by 3-2.
