Arsenal targeting Henry Onyekuru
Arsenal have started negotiations with Belgian club KAS Eupen over a summer deal for Onyekuru
Nigerian ace Onyekuru is one of the exciting young talents in the transfer market. The 19-year-old striker has scored 24 goals and claimed further 9 assists this season for KAS Eupen in Belgian League.
Now, both ESPN and Sky Sports are reporting that Arsenal have taken a lead in Onyekuru chase after starting initial talks with his representatives. Onyekuru has a £6.8m release clause in his contract and the Gunners are ready to match that to land the youngster at the Emirates.
Apart from Arsenal, Premier League clubs Southampton, Crystal Palace, West Brom and Everton are also in the hunt for the striker. Scottish giants Celtic and Belgian duo Brugge and Anderlecht are also after the Nigerian.
Everton could be the biggest hurdle for Arsenal in the chase of Onyekuru according to SunSport. Ronald Koeman is said to be a big admirer of Henry and wants Henry to replace Yannick Bolasie. Everton have also sent scouts a number of times this season to take a close look at the Nigerian.
Onyekuru’s reprensentative Mercato Sports have confirmed a lot of interest in their client.
“There have been a lot of clubs from all over Europe wanting to sign Henry and we will speak to them as we have to make sure we make the right decision for him and his career,” a Mercato Sports representative said.
