AC Milan in for Atalanta’s Andrea Conti
If a regular follower of Italian Serie A is being asked to pen down their best XI from this season, half of them will have one name in common for the position of Right-Back, the name is Andrea Conti.
The Atalanta player has caught sight of everyone by his consistent and quality performances this season for La Dea. A promising young talent never lacks suitors and there was no exception in the case of the Lombardy born. The 23 year old has been chased by some of the biggest names in the business like-Inter Milan, Bayern Munich and Chelsea.
But the name that has recently gained prominence and is being heavily linked to the fullback is AC Milan. Tuttomercatoweb reports that Milan are ready to splash €17 million for the promising young talent to have him in their ranks next season.
The Milan giants, recently being owned by the Chinese consortium will undergo a complete remodelling as far as the squad is concerned.
Right-Back has been a sector where the Rossoneri have been suffering. With Abate gradually ageing, Calabria failing to live upto the expectations and a move for De Sciglio seemingly on the cards, the 18 times Scudetto winners badly need a new face in that position. The pursuit of Conti is thus completely justified.
Mirabelli and Fassone will be hoping that the Atalanta management will accept their offer as they are resistant to spend more on the La Dea academy product. The arrival of Wolfsburg left-back Ricardo Rodriguez at San Siro being heavily rumoured, the inclusion of Conti if happens would be considered as an intelligent move by the Rossoneri management.
The Milan authority has seemingly started their rebuilding process from the back and the No 24 jersey holder of Gasperini’s rejuvenated youthful squad is topping their wishlist.
