Juventus right-back Dani Alves is a shock summer target for Tottenham Hotspur.

Dani Alves is regarded as one of the best right-backs of the current generation. After eight prolonged years at Barcelona, the 34-year-old veteran joined the Italian giants Juventus at the start of this season.

The Brazilian’s explosive form has already taken the Old Lady on the horizon of winning the treble. Juventus booked a place in the Champions League final against Real Madrid by beating Monaco in the semi-final where Alves was judged the man-of-the-match over the both legs. The veteran also scored in the Coppa Italia final to fire Juventus past Lazio for the title. Juventus are also on the brink of securing the Serie A title for the 6th consecutive season.

Now, according to Yahoo Sports, Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino is trying to bring the Brazilian to the North London club and has already begun talks with his officials. Spurs right-back Kyle Walker is increasingly likely to end up at Manchester City next season after fell out with the gaffer. That means Tottenham would have just Kieran Trippier at the right-back position and Pochettino wants to add Dani Alves at his disposal to replace Walker.

Dani Alves has one-year remaining in his current Juventus contract with an option to extend it by further one. Luring away Dani Alves from Juventus would be a tough task for Pochettino. Alves seems to be happy at the Turin being constantly in contention for domestic titles as well as Champions League. Tottenham’s lack of silverware and abysmal European performances would surely be their biggest hurdle in pursuit of Dani Alves.

But considering Alves’ desire to play in the Premier League, Spurs are hopeful that they can pull off a major coup.

“I’ve always said that playing in England is something I’ve got pending.”, Alves told the Guardian last summer.

“I don’t know when but I’d like to play there, to experience in person what I see from the sofa. The way the people live football.”Wow, it’s incredible. Full stadiums, living every moment.”

Alves is reportedly valued at £40m and currently on £70k-a-week wages. The Brazilian international has won the Copa America once and the Confederations Cup twice with the national squad. In club level he won the La Liga six times, the Champions League thrice with Barcelona and the UEFA Cup twice with Sevilla. He has 100 caps under his belt for Brazil and largely expected to feature in next year’s FIFA World Cup.
