Juventus secured the Italian Cup and have taken the 1st step towards the treble this season.Juventus will face Crotone in the weekend and a win will secure the league title and then they will only focus on the big fixture i.e. Champions League final against Real Madrid on 3rd June.
Juventus were clinical with their approach and first half strikes from Dani Alves and Leonardo Bonucci was enough as the Bianconeri became the 1st team to secure the prestigious Coppa Italia for a successive 3rd time.
Lazio started the match pretty well as they came very close to take the lead with just 5 minutes into the match. Keita got better of Barzagli on the break but unfortunately saw his shot deflected off Bonucci and struck the post and went out.
Juventus were in search of an early goal to dominate the play from the beginning and that’s exactly what happened.Gonzalo Higuain’s powerful volley was well parried by Thomas Strakosha, but he was caught out by Alves’ calm finish which gave Juve the lead in the 12th minute.
Alex Sandro found himself in space on the left flank and find Dani Alves at the far post with a looping cross, but the Brazil international’s volley off the ground went over the goal post from 6 yards out.
Juve pushed for another goal in the 1st half, but Strakosha kept his side in the game with 3 exceptional saves. The Albanian denied Dybala twice from distance and also kept out Higuain from close range.
But Lazio’s defence was not great and Juve took full advantage of their slack defending, as Alex Sandro drive the ball from a corner and allowed Bonucci, who was unmarked to guide it home.
Lazio squandered chances to get back in the game when Immobile headed wide from close range and Milinkovic-Savic’s header also went straight to Neto from a corner. Substitute Felipe Anderson was the best player for Lazio in the 2nd half as he forced a good low save from the Juve keeper, and kept the pressure early in the 2nd half.
Neto was brilliant when he kept out Immobile’s header from the bottom corner. As Juve did not have the perfect start to the 2nd half. Both Alves and Higuain came close to make it 3-0 but both moves fell apart in the final third.
Inzaghi’s side kept pushing but their efforts were not enough to stop Juventus from winning the Coppa Italia for a historic third time in a row.
