Juventus missed the opportunity to win the title on Sunday night after a 3-1 defeat to Roma left them a point shy of a sixth straight Scudetto. They return to the Stadio Olimpico here, but the team for this cup final will have a more familiar look. They heavily rotated with one eye on this clash.
Miralem Pjanic is suspended for this clash, with Daniele Rugani and Sami Khedira both ruled out through injury.
Lazio also rotated, which left both sides coming into this final on the back of a defeat. They’re certainly going to need all the rest they can get, as they’ve lost six straight meetings with Juventus.
Biancocelesti have been red-hot in the final third over the last couple of weeks. The team led by Simone Inzaghi notched as many as 16 goals in last five games in all competitions.
Much like Allegri did, Inzaghi also rested his key players in the league’s visit to Artemio Franchi in a 3-2 loss to Fiorentina.
Lazio has doubts over Marco Parolo and Jordan Lukaku ahead of this clash. They remain without goalkeeper Federico Marchetti, who is a long-term absentee.
Juventus : 4-2-3-1: Neto; Barzagli, Bonucci, Chiellini, Sandro; Rincon, Marchisio; Alves, Dybala, Mandzukic; Higuain.
Absentees : Khedira (hamstring), Rugani (tibia), Pjaca (knee), Pjanic (suspension)
Lazio :3-5-2: Strokosha; Bastos, De Vrij, Wallace; Basta, Parolo, Biglia, Milinkovic-Savic, Lulic; Immobile, Keita.
Absentees : Lukaku (hamstring), Marchetti (knee).
Lazio’s performance against the Old Lady has been very much below par as they have lost 9 matches on the trot.
This includes the 2-1 win after extra-time in Coppa Italia final 2 years ago. Interestingly, Lazio has failed to find the back of the net since, and the two sides played each other six times in the meantime.
