Fabian Johnson signs contract extension with Borussia Monchengladbach
The US International has signed with the Bundesliga outfit for another 3 seasons.
Borussia Monchengladbach has announced that versatile US international Fabian Johnson has signed a contract extension through the 2019-20 season.
The Munich born 29-year-old, who has scored 13 goals in 100 matches in all competitions for Gladbach, joined in 2014 from Hoffenheim.
Johnson, who has earned 54 caps for the United States since 2011, has twice helped Gladbach get into the Champions League group stage in the past two seasons.
“With his versatility on the pitch and his calm, reliable character in the dressing room, Fabian has developed into a leading player within the team,” Borussia sporting director Max Eberl told the club’s official website. “We’re delighted that he will be remaining with us for another three years.”
He has spent 3 seasons with the Foals and has twice helped Gladbach get into the Champions League group stage in the past two seasons. “After joining from Hoffenheim three years ago I had set a goal to develop further and to play internationally,” he said in a statement.
“I have achieved both and for that reason I am happy to continue the road with Borussia together”.
This season, Johnson has made 19 Bundesliga appearances for Gladbach while battling injuries, scoring three goals and adding two assists. He returned to training last week after being injured since March.
