Ajax in no mood to sell Kasper Dolberg
Highly-rated Danish forward Kasper Dolberg is set to stay at Ajax after the club ruled out any summer move of the youngster away from the Amsterdam.
Dolberg has been in fine form this season for Ajax, scoring 22 goals across all competitions including goals in both the legs of Ajax’s Europa League semi-final triumph over Lyon.
His superb form has caught the attention of European elites with Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool, AC Milan and Napoli, all are reportedly scouting the 19-year-old wonderkid. Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp even hailed him as “fantastic”.
But Italian outlet Tuttomercatoweb claims that Ajax wouldn’t entertain any bid for their prized-asset this summer. They want to keep Dolberg atleast one more season at the Amsterdam Arena.
Dolberg is flattered by so many interest in him but he, himself isn’t too keen to move either right now and wants to continue his developement at Ajax.
“It’s too big a step to go to City or United now,” he told FourFourTwo. “It’s important to keep on playing, as I don’t know what could happen in the future.”
“I haven’t got a dream league. When I was young it was Barcelona [that was my favourite team], but once I got older I didn’t have one. In England, I followed Arsenal because of Thierry Henry, but it wasn’t like Arsenal was my favourite.”
“My goal [this season] was to play for Ajax’s reserve team, become their best player and maybe get a few matches in the first team.”
“But then Arek Milik went to Napoli and I got the chance. Then in the first game of the season I played and scored against PAOK in a Champions League qualifier. From that point I was motivated.””The coach gave me confidence to play in the way I’ve always done.”
Dolberg’s contract at Ajax runs until 2021. He made his senior debut for the Danish national team last year.
