AS Roma to miss vital players against Juventus
Luciano Spaletti will have his eyebrows raised to pick his first XI in Sunday’s all important clash against Juventus being struck by injuries.
Roma is currently 2nd in the Serie A ladder with 78 points, 7 points adrift league leaders Juventus. In this scenario, the Sunday’s clash has become potentially a title decider. A win for the Bianconeri will take them through to their sixth straight Scudetti while a win for the Giallorossi is a must to keep the title chase alive.
But Roma will miss the services of their target man-Edin Džeko. The Bosnian international is currently in pole position in the battle of becoming the Capocannoniere and has become one of the most clinical finishers in European football over the last of couple of seasons.
Džeko limped off the pitch in the second half of the match against AC Milan where Roma registered an enthralling 4-1 victory in away soil thanks to the brace by the former Manchester City ace. Although it was not considered much serious initially but Gazzetta reports that it is a serious calf muscle injury which will keep Džeko out of the pitch for ten days resulting in the omission from the Juve match.
On the other hand Radja Nainggolan also suffered s similar sort of injury in the same match and is also currently in the list of injured players. Although the medical team and management is hopeful of the talismanic Belgian featuring in the match against the league leaders.
Kevin Strootman is also suffering a two match suspension due to simulation and will not be available for this fixture.
With important players like Džeko, Nainggolan and Strootman unavailable, Spaletti will surely have a torrid time to set his team for this potential decider.
Diego Perotti may start in place of Edin Džeko while Francesco Totti featuring in the starting line-up still looks highly unlikely.
