Liverpool FC leap ahead in Moura chase
Liverpool have taken a lead over their rivals in Lucas Moura chase.
Brazilian winger Lucas Moura has been in scintillating form this season for French champions, Paris Saint-Germain, and that didn’t go unnoticed among the top European powerhouses.
L’Equipe claims that Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp is trying to bring the 24-year-old versatile winger at the Anfield to add more firepower to his already loaded disposal.
Lucas is reported to be happy at PSG. But the potential exit of boss Unai Emery has put a serious question mark over Moura’s future. PSG’s reported interest in Alexis Sánchez hasn’t gone down well with Moura either with PSG already having acquired Julian Draxler for that position last January. This fierce competition for a starting XI spot may prompt Moura to look elsewhere and Liverpool would certainly be a fancy option for the Brazilian.
Lucas has a 81.7% passing accuracy this season with an average of 1.8 key passes and 1.8 dribbles per game which certainly demonstrate why Klopp is so keen to add Moura to his roster.
L’Equipe further reports that Atlético Madrid are set to battle Liverpool for Moura’s signature. They will make any move as soon as their ongoing transfer ban uplifts.
Arsenal are also mentioned as a possible destination by Telefoot. The Gunners tried to sign Moura last January but the deal never materialised.
According to Transfermarkt.com, Lucas Moura has a €37m release clause on his current PSG contract which runs until 2019.
Lucas joined PSG from São Paulo in 2013 and since scored 42 goals and notched up further 52 assists in 230 appearances for the French outfit across all competitions.
He already has 9 goals and 5 assists to his name in 35 Ligue 1 appearances this season. The pacy Brazilian has been capped 36 times by his national team since making his debut in 2011.
