Sevilla, RB Leipzig, Crystal Palace all in for Jozo Simunovic
Clubs from Spain, Germany, England all are interested in Celtic’s Croatian Centre-back Jozo Simunovic.
Simunovic is one of the most important players in the Celtic team this season with 29 caps, he has been a brick-wall for Celtic.
Jozo Simunovic has been brilliant this season and according to Daily mail his great form has already alerted La Liga duo Espanyol and Sevilla, while German side Red Bull Leipzig have also kept an eye on the Croat’s situation, Crystal Palace, West Brom & newly promted Premier League side Newcastle United have also showed interest in him.
Italian side Torino had previously targeted the 22-year-old back in the summer transfer window, before a deadline day deal failed.
Torino again tried to get the ex – Dinamo Zagreb man in the winter transfer window in January but a £9million price tag from the Celts on Simunovic scared off them.
Brendan Rodgers on Simunovic (last year) said: “I see Jozo’s future very much here. He has been out injured and probably hasn’t had that consistent run as a Celtic player. But he has everything really. He is good in the air, quick and serves the ball well.I have been involved at both ends of the Premier League so I know the finances involved.”
Rodgers doesn’t want to lose Simunovic but can’t deny the huge wages he may get offered. Rodgers – “It’s very hard if a player is offered 80, 90 or 100 grand a week to say no to that.
But Jozo is a big player for us. I said at the time that I was delighted he never went to Torino. I hadn’t seen a lot of him at that stage. That was the thing.
There was obviously the chance for him to go without being fit, really.Thankfully, it fell through and he stayed. As soon as you saw him back in training, you thought, Once this boy is fit, we have a proper player here.”
