Renato Sanches to become Bayern Munich’s most expensive player?
Bayern midfielder Renato Sanches is set to become Bayern’s most expensive player ever if he plays 1 more game this season.
Portuguese star Renato Sanches may become Bayern’s most expensive player ever, though he needs 1 more appearance for the club before the end of the season to make that happen.
The Portuguese midfielder came from Benfica to join the German Giants last summer in a deal worth £30million but a number of clauses could eventually see the final price rocket to £67m.
If this happens it will break the record of Javi Martinez (£33m). Bayern’s next match will be against relegation-threatened Darmstadt in the Bundesliga & if Bayern Boss Carlo Ancelotti opts to rotate his squad & give Sanches a nod it will make him Bayern Munich’s most expensive buy ever.
Top 5 Expensive Bayern signings
- Javi Martinez – £33m (Athletic Bilbao)
- Arturo Vidal- £32m (Bayern Munich)
- Mario Gotze- £32m (Borussia Dortmund)
- Mats Hummels – £30m (Borussia Dortmund)
- Renato Sanches – £30m (Benfica) (set to break this)
According to German newspaper Bild, 25 appearances by Sanches will earn Benfica £4m due to a performance clause in his contract, it will further increase when the other clauses get triggered.
After coming off as a substitute against Wolfsburg, he now stands on 24. Sanches hasn’t had that much time on the field as was expected of him when making the move to Allianz Arena, he has made only 5 starts in the Bundesliga but has been used as a substitute 11 times there.
Renato Sanches also played twice in the DFB Pokal and made 6 Champions League appearances this season for the Bavarian outfit.
