Goals from Kane and Alli sink Arsenal in the North London derby at White Hart Lane

Tottenham signs of White Hart lane with a victory in the north London derby and finishes above their fierce rivals first time since 1995.

Pochettino’s men were dominant in the north London derby and this victory keeps them in the hunt for the title. they are sitting at 2nd position in the league 4 points behind Chelsea. Delle Alli and North London derby specialist Harry Kane scored this evening so that their hopes for the title are still on.

The Gunners are at 6th position 6 points behind City at 4th place and 5 points behind United at 5th position.

1st half

Spurs started the game on a high and kept the pressure throughout. They did not allow Arsenal to stamp any authority in this fixture and Arsenal were evidently struggling against a well-drilled Spurs side.

Spurs created a lot of chances early in the game, Kane’s shot and Alderwirald’s header almost gave them the lead. But in the 22nd minute, Alli came close to breaking the deadlock but the header went wide and Arsenal tentatively held on.

Wanyama showed his awareness with his pass to Son who was in acres of place on the left. The south Korea international left Oxlade-chamberlain clueless and ran past him, but his shot was blocked, but as far Eriksen who could not capitalise on the loose ball as his volley struck the woodwork.

Arsenal were definitely on the receiving end of this match but the little half chance they had were from Ramsey and Sanchez. But Cech was up to the task when he was tested by Vertonghen right at the end of the first half.

2nd Half

Arsenal somehow managed to not to concede as Spurs did not make the most of the chances they had. But just like the first half, they started the 2nd half with authority, as Wanyama’s fierce shot called for a great save from Cech.

Spurs then finally went ahead when Alli went past several defenders and created a golden opportunity for Eriksen but his close-range shot was saved by Cech, but the Arsenal goalkeeper could parry the ball only back to Alli who tucked it home and gave Spurs the much-deserved lead.

Just 3 minutes from conceding, Arsenal gifted another one for their neighbours when Gabriel recklessly trip on Kane inside the box to hand Spurs with a penalty and a chance to increase their led. The England striker made no mistake as he tucked the ball home just inside the post leaving Cech with no chance. With this goal, Kane is now Spurs leading scorer of this fixture.

The 3-4-3 formation change which changed Arsenal’s recent fortunes did not work against their fierce rivals as Wenger was also helpless when 2nd half substitutes were unable to bring the Gunners back in the game. it was an evening which was dominated by Spurs fair and square.
