Remo Freuler’s late equaliser held the Serie A champions Juventus to a 2-2 draw away from home.

Gianluigi Buffon’s late error proved to be very costly as his mistake was fully capitalised by Remo Freuler as his late equaliser earned a point for Atalanta in the crucial fixture.

This result will take Juve 9 points clear of 2nd placed Roma, who will face rivals Lazio on Sunday in an epic encounter. Allegri’s men will now shift their focus on the Champions League semi-final fixture against AS Monaco.

1st half

Allegri motivated his men in the pre-match build up and told them not to take Atlanta lightly as they have a tremendous record at home. But Juve was completely the opposite on the field, as they gave away the ball carelessly in many occasions. It was uncharacteristic of Juventus as they did not manage to prove anything in the 1st half.

Juve’s clumsy display should have been punished but Buffon showed his class as he denied Andrea Masiello with a superb one on one save.

Juventus had the opportunity to take the lead but Colombian winger, Juan Cuadrado volleyed it wide from a perfect diagonal ball from Giorgio Chiellini.

The host did get rewarded for the chances they were creating and just before half time Alejandro Gomes’ perfect dink found Conti at the back post as he gave the hosts a well-deserved lead at halftime.

2nd half

Juventus came back with a great reply as they equalised at the 50th-minute mark. Pjanic’s delivery from the free kick was excellent and Leonardo Bonucci kept the defenders under pressure which resulted in Spinazzola’s own goal.

Higuain tested the Atlanta goalkeeper quite a few times but Berisha certainly came on top. Juve was denied a penalty as the ball struck Rafael Toloi’s hand in the penalty box but the referee awarded the freekick in Atlanta’s favour because Mandzukić was judged offside.

Berisha was rock solid at the back as he denied Higuain again and his saves to deny Khedira on two occasions proved to be very crucial in the context of the game.

But the Albanian International could not do anything when Pjanic’s wonderful cross was headed home by unmarked Dani Alves at the far post. Juve had the lead and they thought Dani’s 83rd-minute goal was the match winner.

Juve was proved wrong as Atalanta retaliated When Frueler’s shot was carelessly parried back by Buffon to the Swiss midfielder who sealed the equaliser on the rebound right at the dying minutes of the match.

Juventus will now like to concentrate on their Champions League semifinal clash against AS Monaco on Wednesday, 3rd May.
