OGC Nice vs Paris Saint-Germain Match Preview
After their draw last week extinguished the hope of even the most optimistic, that Nice could genuinely win the league. This weekend’s match against PSG represents the South Coast club’s last chance to have a tangible effect upon this season’s title race.
This match being a late one, 9pm(France) on a Sunday night, allowed PSG to take an educated gamble and field a full strength 11 against and understrength Monaco in their midweek cup match (PSG ran out hilariously comfortable 5-0 winners).
PSG will come into this game knowing that a win is vital for their league aspirations, as they look to be the first team in the league to take all 3 points home from the Allianz Riviera, with Nice unbeaten at home this season. Nice have been this season’s surprise package and will hope to continue that form after their slip up last weekend against mid-table Toulouse. PSG will fancy themselves however, as they have won 13 of 17 games away from the Pac des Princes this season, giving them the league’s best away record.
PSG have not lost a league game since December, and the 6-1 result against Barcelona, that they will attempt to scrub from their memories, is the only game they’ve lost since December in any competition. They will look to keep that run going this weekend as they look to be the first away team to win this season in Nice, as well as continue their attempt to keep their streak of Championnat wins alive.
