India international defender Anwar Ali suffers major heart attack
Former India international center-back Anwar Ali suffered an myocardial ischaemic attack on Tuesday after East Bengal’s morning training session while returning to his apartment with club mate Gurwinder Singh.
The defender, who hails from Punjab, complained of pain and uneasiness while returning from practice with colleague and friend Gurwinder Singh on Tuesday.
East Bengal Assistant Secretary and orthopaedic surgeon Dr. Shanti Ranjan Dasgupta said, “Yes it was indeed a major heart-attack and now under the observance of Dr.Sunip Bandyopadhyay. They will first do the angiogram and then will do the angioplasty accordingly. I heard that he is stable now. But it’s indeed a very bad news.”
An angiogram test was conducted, which confirmed that it was indeed a case of an ischemic attack, and Anwar has been under care since. The doctors have made it clear that he needs to stay under their observation for another day before being discharged on Wednesday.
He was signed by East Bengal this year and have made five appearances for the team in the I-League so far.
Well, we wish his quick recovery!
