AS Monaco vs Dijon FCO Match Preview
Expectations of a free flowing, high tempo, exciting game are not high this week as league leaders Monaco host relegation candidates, and second bottom of the table, Dijon.
Having persevered and broken down a resilient, organised defence last week to beat Angers 1-0, Monaco will be hoping to have at least similar success this week. Coach Leonardo Jardim though will hope it won’t take until the 60th minute to find the breakthrough this week.
Monaco will go into this game knowing the PSG result from the day before and therefore what they must do in order to keep their lead at the top. They come into the game in good form, unbeaten in 15 league games and having disposed of Borussia Dortmund midweek.
Dijon come into this game in remarkably different form, having won only 2 of their last 12 matches and find themselves, perhaps unsurprisingly, in 19th spot on the table. With only 6 games left they will want to start gaining some points in what is an incredibly tight race at the bottom to stay up.
The match is now set to take place at 9pm local time instead of the original 5pm fixture. This is due to Monaco’s Champions League game midweek being moved from Tuesday to Wednesday after the terrible blast involving Dortmund’s team bus.
Can Dijon pull off an upset and begin to stem the flow of bad results in order to save their season, and top flight status? Or will it be another win for the youthful Monaco as they continue their quest for a first Ligue 1 title since 1999/2000?
