European giants chasing Franck Kessie
Atalanta midfielder Franck Kessie is attracting a sea of interest from European elites.
Kessie, the 20-year-old Ivory Coast International, is one of the most sought young prospects currently. He has been in great shape this season for Atalanta after returning from his loan spell at Cesena. Despite largely being operated as a holding midfielder, Kessie bagged 6 goals and notched up further 4 assists for Atalanta in 25 appearances this season.
In a recent interview with Italian publication Rai Sport, Kessie’s agent George Atangana lifted the lid on his client’s future.
“I must admit that Roma have the advantage for Kessie, but we haven’t closed a deal yet,” he said.
“Because there are other top clubs interested who continue calling me. There are many overseas clubs interested in him.”
“Manchester City, where his friend Yaya Toure plays in the same role. Liverpool, where their manager Jurgen Klopp knows how to help young players develop. Then there’s Arsenal, whose manager is very close to French-speaking players.”
“I have to say they are not the only Premier League clubs who are after him, as there are many more too. Franck is close to many clubs and close to none.”
Chelsea and Manchester United were also heavily linked with Kessie throughout the last winter transfer window and it won’t be any surprise if they express their interest in the upcoming summer transfer window too. Kessie is reportedly valued at £26m by Atalanta.
