Indian Football Team achieves it’s best FIFA ranking in past 20 years
The Blue Tigers have achieved their best FIFA ranking in past 20 year’s on 6th April,2017 when FIFA announced their new rankings with Brazil leading the table. The Blue Tigers have accumulated a total of 331 points.
The last month’s total saw them net just 233 points. The team from the subcontinent has risen 31 places on the ladder, second only to the Republic of Macedonia. Stephen Constantine and his men have been able to continue that run of recent times, chalking up six wins on the trot at the international for the first time in the country’s history.
This has truly been a purple patch for the Indians who have won 11 of their last 13 games, with their last defeat coming at the hands of Turkmenistan in their last game of the FIFA 2020 World Cup Qualifiers. Beside ranking 101 in FIFA India is ranked 11 in AFC rankings.
Post achieving the new ranking India will play Lebanon in their first International Friendly at home on June 7, 2017 before taking on Kyrgyz Republic at home on June 13 in their next AFC Asian Cup qualifier match.
