Edgardo Bauza ask Mauro Icardi to be Calm & Patient for National Call Up
Argentina Boss Edgardo Bauza says Mauro Icardi to be Calm & Patient for National Call Up.
Mauro Icardi, who has been sensational in the last few seasons for Internazionale, is still fighting for a national call-up to the La Albiceleste, but Argentina boss suggests that he is unsuitable to the team as hold up play is not his forte.
Icardi, who has only one cap for the La Albiceleste, was again overlooked by Bauza for the World Cup Qualifiers against Chile and Bolivia.
Bauza has promised to select the Inter captain in case there is any injury to any of the forwards. With an attack envied by many countries, Argentina has a formidable lineup with the likes of Lionel Messi, Sergio Aguero, Ezequiel Lavezzi, Angel Correa, Gonzalo Higuain, Paulo Dybala and Lucas Pratto. Chances for the Inter captain looks very scarce.
Icardi was a very promising youngster at Sampdoria and impressed a lot in his first season. He finally made a move to Inter in the 2013/14 season and was so impressive that he was made captain in the 2015/16 season at a pretty young age. Till then he had scored a whopping 67 goals in 117 appearances for Internazionale and had taken the world football by storm.
Icardi is a quick, physical, prolific, and tactically sound forward and a nightmare for any team when he gets in the final third.
Rumours speculate that Lionel Messi is being the reason for Icardi’s exclusion as Messi shares a good friendship with Maxi Lopez, who was the former partner of Icardi’s wife. But all those rumours had been put to rest when Edgardo Bauza stated that “His [Icardi] off-field antics have nothing to do with his national team selection and he will be called up soon”.
Bauza also added that “Messi does not dictate my team”. In spite of Bauza promising a call up soon, future for the Inter captain still hangs in balance.
