Atletico Madrid’s French international Antoine Griezmann who is the number one target for Manchester United this summer, is finally making some statement over his future. Although for several days the star attacker is saying what he is willing to do in future but it seems that his intention is to cool down the recent rumours than discussing about it. Probably the striker is trying to make concentration on his play and then after the end of the campaign, he will take the decision.
The French forward has been linked with Red Devils for more or less 2 years but this time United is adamant to lure the striker from Atletico Madrid, and a potential move is already on go according to Daily Star. The newspaper saying that personal terms have been agreed with he player while an £85 million switch is on its way to be finalised. United’s manager Jose Mourinho is also very keen on Griezmann and with Rooney likely to leave club this summer known from sources, Mourinho is keen to bring the 26 years old as his new attacking option.
But recent sources telling that Griezmann is unwilling to relocate as he spoke about it also. According to Metro, the attacker has cooled down the speculation insisting that he is happy at Madrid, “It’s sunny in Madrid, I feel good there. There’s no need to change.” United are said to be prepared to trigger his release clause at the end of the season. Griezmann has admitted that he dreams of playing for a big club but failed to mention United when quizzed earlier this month. He said: “Why not? That’s the dream for every player – to be at big clubs like that, or Bayern Munich, but right now I don’t see myself at Barcelona or Real, or anywhere else. I have no intention of leaving Atletico Madrid, for Paris Saint-Germain, China, the USA, Russia, or elsewhere.”
The 26-year-old has been in hot form once again this season, being directly involved in 33 goals in his 40 appearances for Atletico. Those high-quality performances, sustained over the past two seasons, have seen him become one of the most coveted players in European football. But his recent crunchtalks is appearing to be blow for United and other premier league giants who are interested in him.
Though United board is prepared to hand Mourinho a huge sum of money, but for United, the qualifying for UEFA Champions League will help their transfer plans and that certainly includes this 26 years old sensation too.
