Manchester City in hunt of Monaco midfielder Fabinho
Fabinho, one of the prime City targets have a “gentleman’s agreement” to leave Monaco in this summer if he wants to do so, said L’Équipe.
The French outlet told that the 23-year-old Brazilian has made an agreement with the current club vice-president Vadim Vasilyev and nearly left the club for Etihad last summer, while City is still seeking for his services, regarding his vibrant performances this season, including the Champions League fixture against the sky-blues in the last 16.
Pep Guardiola and Txiki Begirisitainare rumoured to be “big fans” of the defensive midfielder, who can also play as right back fluently. He has spent his most of the time as a right back, while Jardim has transitioned him to a completely to the position of a holding midfielder, which he have adopted quite significantly beside Tiemoue Bakayoko.
Given his flexibility and coolness in central areas, with a brilliant tackling ability as well as a scoring capability, Fabinho could be the man Pep is seeking for a perfect placement in that right back position. L’Equipe is considering City as the most likely destination for the Brazilian if he leaves Monaco.
Just like other defensive targets of City he is capable of going forward and put the ball behind nets. In this season he has been capped 28 times for the league leaders, scoring 7 goals and providing an assist, not bad for a defender/defensive midfielder, though. He owns another record of converting cent percent penalties whenever he has stepped up to the spot.
Fabinho won’t come cheap but the club wouldn’t stand in the way.
