Real Madrid planning to sell their left back Fabio Coentrao.
Real Madrid are set to axe Portugal left back Fabio Coentrao with Primeira Liga heavyweights are ready to take full advantage of the situation.
Portuguese media ‘O Jogo’ and ‘Jornal de Noticias’ both have listed Benfica and Sporting as possible destinations. But according to ‘AS English’ Benfica are the most likely one being his former club and Coentrao has already reiterated himself “benfiquista” many times.
Coentrao,29, joined Los Blancos back in 2011 in a reported €30 million deal.
He has represented Portugal 51 times in International circuit and was a pivotal figure in Madrid’s La Decima win under Carlo Ancelotti. But since then his form dipped and he was sent to Monaco on loan in the 2015-16 season. He started his Ligue 1 campaign brightly but soon lost the plot due to several injuries.
Zidane wanted to give Coentrao a chance to prove himself but his injuries did him no favour restricting him to just 4 appearances this season.
Coentrao has a contract with the La Liga giants until 2019. But his agent Jorge Mendes is already working on a move away from Santiago Bernabeu. Coentrao himself is ready to accept a pay cut to play regularly and earn his lost place in Portuguese National side.
