Manchester City move ahead of Liverpool in Mahmoud Dahoud chase
Manchester City are in pole position to sign Mahmoud Dahoud according to reports
Germany U-21 international and Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Mahmoud Dahoud is attracting strong interest among European elites.
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is a known admirer of the 21-year-old Syrian-born midfielder whom he targets as a potential replacement for Emre Can.
Klopp tried to lure Dahoud away from Borussia Park last summer with a £20m bid but Borussia Monchengladbach rejected it instantly as they already approved Granit Xhaka’s sale to Arsenal.
But as reported by ‘The Sun’ Manchester City are in pole position to sign Dahoud and Guardiola sent scouts to watch him over both legs of Borussia’s Europa League tie against Schalke. Pep admires Dahoud’s deep lying playmaker role who can frequently burst forward and has great skill in his disposal.
Borussia Dortmund are also a possible destination for Dahoud according to ‘Mirror’. Dahoud’s contract at Borussia Park is set to be expired in 2018 and that makes him available for £10m.
Gladbach Chief wants Dahoud to ink a new deal but he may be forced to sell Mahmoud amidst risk of losing out as a free agent in 2018.
