Germany vs England match preview
England headed to Germany for a match that has mattered more to English fans than German fans, at Dortmund.
After they trained at St Goerge’s park, Manager Gareth Southgate had to worry only about defender Phil Jones’ injury, for whom he took no replacement. Raheem Sterling was the only player missing from training as he took time off for recovery after playing all matches for city over the week.
Gary Cahill will be the captain as the regular will miss the match along with Harry Kane and Daniel Sturridge, out with injury. Jamie Vardy and Marcus Rashford and Jermain Defoe, who is returning to national duty for the first time since 2013. Nathan Redmond and James Ward Prowse have earned their maiden call-ups.
This match holds significance for German fans as the farewell match of Lucas Podolski. Germany is struggling with injury problems at the moment, as Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil and PSG’s Julian Draxler are out with hamstring issues and Mario Gomes has a groin injury.Goalkeeper Manuel Nuer would also miss the tie due to injury. Germany’s only debutant would be RB Leipzig forward Timo Werner.
