I-League : Bengaluru drops points, East Bengal stays on top

After another week of action in Hero I League 2017 season, East Bengal stays on top of the table with 19 points from 7 matches. The yellow and Red Brigades scored three past the visitors Chennai City FC and secured the top position with a three point lead over arch rivals Mohun Bagan, who played a match lesser than the table toppers. Wedson Anselme , Willis plaza and Lalrindika Ralte were the scorers for the the home side.

Meanwhile Mohun Bagan continued their impressive run with a victory over Aizawl FC, in what was an exciting game the Mariners came out in flying colours as Daryl Duffy’s 84th minute strike sealed off the victory for the mariners. A total of 5 goals were bagged by both sides in the game, Bagan managed to win the gamer for 3-2. Darryl Duffy (2′ and 84′) and Jeje Lalpekhlua(64′) were the scorers for the home side , while Jayesh Rane (41′) and Ashutosh Mehta (71′) scored for the visitors.

In other matches of the same round of competition, Bengaluru FC dropped points against DSK Shivajians, as the match ended in a 2-2 draw. The current League champions are having a worst run of games and have dropped to fifth position with  only 10 points from 6 matches.Mumbai FC and Churchill Brothers also had a bitter taste of defeat. Mumbai FC lost to Minerva Punjab , Meanwhile Shillong Lajong defeated Churchill Brothers Goa.
