AIFF sacked U-17 coach, months before FIFA U17 World Cup
All India Football Federation (AIFF) has discharged Nicolai Adam (Indian U17 coach) from his duties, following a poor performance from the National side, just months before 2017 FIFA U17 World Cup which is to be held in India.
The decision came after a poor display by the U17 National side in the recently concluded Granatkin Memorial Tournament, held in Russia. India could win only a single game out of the five matches they played in Russia, also losing out to lower Ranked teams like Tajikistan in the 15th place play-off.
The decision came just eight months before the commencement of U17 FIFA World Cup, leaving the preparations for the World Cup in disarray.
The former U19 Azerbaijan coach was appointed by AIFF back in 2015. Nicolai also worked with U-16 and U-17 national teams of Azerbaijan.
