Atletico de Kolkata beats Kerala Blasters in the Indian Super League final and lifts the trophy for the second time.
Atletico de Kolkata played really well and won by 1-1 (3-4 pen) against Kerala Blasters and is the second time Kolkata beat Kerala in the Indian Super League finals.
Atletico de Kolkata started the game really well and created lot of chances,Doutie was created a lot chances and Postiga had multiple chances to put his side ahead but it was not his day.
Atletico were constantly testing Kerala defense but the Kerala did not loose their composure and kept their team alive.Stack played a great role in defense and made some great saves for his team.
Aaron Hughes was replaced by Elhadji Ndoye as the Blaasters captain and marquee was suffering with injury in the 35th minute of the game.
Mohammed Rafi scored the first goal of the Indian Super League Season 3 final as his header from Mehtab’s corner kick find the back of the net.
But the lead was cancelled when Atletico equalised with a corner in the 43rd minute as Henrique Sereno header from Doutie’s corner kick beat Stack.
Atletico had a lot of chances to win the game but again they were not able to beat the Kerala defense and the game ended in a 1-1 draw after the full time.
Referee called it for an extra time but still he 30minute was not enough to separate them so it game continued to penalties.
Antonio German took the fist penalty and he scored for Blasters while Iain Hume took the first penalty for Kolkata but his shot was saved by Stack.
Belfort increased the advantage for Blasters as he scored with a cool kick right into the bottom corner and on the otherside Doutie took the penalty really well and scored.
Elhadji Ndoye put the next penalty wide but Borja scored for Atletico de Kolkata and put the score line level.Mohammed Rafique and Javi Lara also scored to put the score line 4-4.
Cedric Hengbarttook the last penalty but his shot was saved by Debjit and Jewel Raja stepped up for the final kick and kept his cool to finish it.
Atletico de Kolkata has been crowned as the winners of Indian Super League for the second time in three years.
