Mumbai City FC beat Kerala Blasters by 5-0
Mumbai beat Kerala by 5-0 as Diego Forlan scored a hat-trick to put Mumbai at the top of the table.Mumbai are now two point clear of second placed Delhi.
The goals were scored by Diego Forlan (5’, 14’ and 63’),Cafu and Lucian Goian for Mumbai City F C.Mumbai were on the driving seat of the game having lot of ball and were constantly attacking Kerala.
The first goal of the goal was scored by Forlan as he finished a lofted ball from Defederico. His right footed shot nestled into the far corner as the onrushing Graham Stack had no chance whatsoever.
Forlan got a free-kick from about 35 yards out in the 14th minute and his shot went straight into the top corner as diving Stack couldn’t get to it.
The interesting fact was that the Mumbai players switching their roles often and were confusing the Kerala’s defenders,while Kerala forwards were not playing well and the midfielders were not creating any open chance.
Coppell brought Thongkhosiem Haokip in the second half for Pratik and shifted Anto in the right-back position.Haokip had a chance to make an impact within three minutes of coming on the pitch but he ended up shooting wide.
Forlan completed his hat-trick in the 63rd minute. A poor clearance from Jhingan was picked up by Cafuu who played Forlan on the left and he finished it in some style.
Cafu and Lucian Goian extended the lead for the home side.Mumbai are now at the top of the table while Kerala are at the fourth position after the match.
