Delhi Dynamos beat FC Goa by 2-0
Delhi Dynamos beat FC Goa and registering Goa’s fifth defeat of Indian Super League (ISL) in 2016.
Brazilian Marcelinho (72′) came off the bench to open the scoring before Richard Gadze (76′) sealed the game for The Lions in the sunny state of Goa.The visitors saw a lot of the ball in the first five minutes but a chance fell to the home side at the end of it. It was a breathtaking counter-attack that was sparked by Jofre Mateu’s first time through ball for Rafael Coelho who decided to chip the onrushing Antonio Doblas, but the goal bound shot was cleared off the line by Anas Edathodika.
FC Goa looked to play on the counter attack and because of the aforementioned tactic the likes of Florent Malouda and Milan Singh saw a lot of the ball. Despite that, Goa looked more potent going forward.
The Men in Blue nearly got into the lead in the 59th minute when Julio Cesar rose well to meet Mandar’s cross from the left but his ‘flick-on’ header for Rafael’s run on the far post had too much zest. The above was the last significant contribution by Cesar on the night as he injured himself and was replaced by Reinaldo.
Doblas sent a long ball for Mareceliho who brought the ball down and ran past Goa’s defense to beat Subhasish Roy Choudhury on his away post.
The second goal came as, Malouda did extremely well to find Marcelinho with a cross from the left and the latter cushioned it for Gadze who buried it past Subhasish.
The Gaurs remained rooted the bottom of the table at the end of the first stage of the tournament with more problems than points on the table.Delhi on the other hand move to third in the ISL standings, jumping over NorthEast United.
