Samsung Galaxy Note 7 India release date, price and specs
Samsung released the Galaxy Note 7 nearly 2 months ago, but not in India. It seems that Samsung is going to release the phone in India this month on October 28. Along with the Google pixel which will hit the stores on October 13.
The delay on release date is due to the faulty battery on the Galaxy Note 7. The new models will come with a green battery icon and markings on the box. The company had initially planned to release the phone in India on September 2. Due to fire incidents which lead to the explosion of the phone they recalled all 2.5 million phones sold globally and offered replacement with new phones.
Sources said that in India, about 20,000 bookings were made for the model, though some of which were cancelled after the blast incidents and the resultant delay. But customers who had retained their bookings will be serviced first.
It faced troubles in India as well with the Directorate General of Civil Aviation on September 9 banning passengers from carrying Samsung Galaxy Note 7 in switch on mode on flights. The airline regulator has subsequently allowed Note 7 devices made after September 15 to be carried and charged on board, after Samsung gave written assurances about the product’s safety.
The Galaxy Note 7 has a 5.7-inch SuperAMOLED screen. The screen also curves on the left and right edges. It has a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels. According to Samsung the Note 7 also has a mini DNIe, an image processing chip found in Samsung TVs, which will make the screen more vivid while a user is watching movies on it.
The Note 7 has two variants One powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 and the other using Samsung’s Exynos 8890 processor. In India, the Exynos version will come. This processor has 8 cores. Four cores made by samsung run at a speed of up to 2.3GHz. The other four cores – A53 cores – run at speed of up to 1.6GHz. It comes with 4GB DDR4 RAM.
It’s back camera is a 12-megapixel shooter with optical image stabilisation and a very wide F1.7 lens. This is the same camera used in the Galaxy S7 and that is good because the Galaxy S7 is a fantastic shooter. The Note 7 has a 5-megapixel back camera.
It has a large 3500 mAh battery with turbo charging and wireless charging support and comes with 64GB of internal storage. It has option to add a microSD card of up to 256GB. The phone weighs 169 grams. It runs on the Android Marshmallow customised with Samsung’s TouchWiz user interface.
The Note 7 has several special features. The phone comes with a multifunctional stylus with functionality that no other phone has. The Note 7 has a sleek design with body made of metal and glass. The Note 7 has a fingerprint scanner as well as an iris scanner for additional security The Note 7 is IP68 certified. This means it is waterproof, dust-proof and rain-proof.
The screen supports always-on display, which makes taking a quick glance at the notifications incredibly easy. The Note 7 has a USB C port but Samsung will bundle a USB-C to USB 2.0 adapter with it. In India, it is almost certain that the Note 7 will be sold bundled with 3-month free Jio 4G service with unlimited data.
The phone comes in four colours Blue Coral, Gold Platinum, Silver Titanium, Black Onyx. The Galaxy Note 7 will be priced between Rs 55,000 ($820) to Rs 60,000 ($900).
